Nandhakumar hails from an abjectly poor and needy family. They are the victims of the recent Tsunami disaster which occurred in 2004. His father passed away some time ago, leaving the mother to shoulder the family burden. After sometime the mother deserted the child and is living elsewhere. The child is now under the care of the Grandmother who is working as an agricultural laborer and gets a pittance of about US $267.00 per annum which is meager and irregular. In spite of her best efforts she fails to provide them with even one square meal a day. The situation at home remains deplorable. Keen on providing the child better future and education the desperate Grandmother finally sought aid from this project. Nanhakumar is in school. His favorite subject is Tamil, the regional language. He enjoys playing group games. His health is normal. Nandhakumar has no brothers or sisters.
